A fun, inspirational and informative history book featuring 30 modern-lesbian role models whom helped shape today’s queer culture.
We educate young adults by providing schools with valuable resource books that fill the gap in education about lesbian history and foster an atmosphere of LGBTQ visibility, inclusion, acceptance and pride.
Game Changers has been gifted to every public high school in the San Francisco Bay Area, reaching more that 300,000 students in over 300 schools as a resource for inclusion of LGBT history and social studies in the public school curriculum.
The book can also be found in select independent bookstores, high schools and libraries throughout the U.S., including the James C. Hormel LGBTQIA Center at the San Francisco Public Library, the One Archives at USC and the Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, Harvard University.

The importance of knowing our history.
“It is difficult to know where to go if you have no concept of where you have been. Game Changers reminds us of our community’s past, both joyful and painful, that brought us to this moment where we no longer have to whistper the word lesbian under our breaths - and in the closet, while still present, is not as compulsory as it once was. Through these histories and this book Robin Lowey has changed the game to ensure that our forebears and our struggles will not be erased. LGBTQ+ youth everywhere will know that we matter, we have always mattered, and we have, indeed, made a difference.”
